Blogs are a specialized form of website created for the purpose of keeping an online journal. in order to keep blogs up to date and interesting, in a way that personal homepages rarely were, systems have evolved to facilitate easy posting of material.I am using my blog to keep track of the areas i have covered in the text book that I will be using for my e-book. They help me as I can edit them and also other people who look at my blog can comment on it and tell me where I am going wrong or what I have missed out, blogs are very useful as they can be edited and changed as many time as you wish.i also use my blog to complete activities in the course and record anything I have done using online services. The advantage of having your own online blog is that you can put different posts on at different times and keep updating it, and you can also view and write comments on other peoples blogs, but the disadvantage of using a blog to record information online is that it is open to anyone to view it, so it could also be dangerous if you get anonymous comments.
(electronic mail) has grown as the internet has developed, email is quite simple to use, a message is sent to an individual post box on a mail server where it waits until an email client picks it up. A client is a program such as outlook express on a computer connected to the internet or a browser based client such as hotmail or yahoo (www.hotmail.com) for example. emails can also be used on phones now using WAP or GPRS. I don't particularly agree with email myself as I think it is much easier to chat on instant messenger as you can get urgent messages sent across and replied to a lot faster than email if the other person is online, whereas if you send it via email you don't know whether the other person has received it and they might not receive it until a week later.
CHAT AND INSTANT MESSAGINGChat covers a range of scenarios across different networks including:
Internet relay chat-an open protocol not controlled by any one provider.
web based chat offered by yahoo or msn
web based chat offered by anyone with a site
online role play environments
chat rooms using SMS on mobile phones
Instant messaging also allows you to interact with others users in real time. It is usually more private than chat rooms, allowing a group of people to converse.
The simplest IM services allow just two participants, more advanced services allow multiple users. One such popular service is MSN messenger. Chat and IM require that all the participants be online at the same time unlike email, everyone can participate in real time as though in a real meeting. Chat is very popular among young people for social purposes, perhaps because of its instant nature and the simplicity of the messages sent.
